Bach Festival (Branch)
It is the aim of Southern California Junior Bach Festival (SCJBF) to cultivate knowledge and understanding of Bach's music, as well as to celebrate it. Through festivals, master classes, recitals and concerts, the SCJBF offers many opportunities for musical growth to the best of Southern California's young instrumentalists and vocalists.
The Branch Festival is the initial round of the highly competitive Bach Festival. It is a judged event for students performing keyboard works from the Baroque Era. Students are encouraged participate, as a large number of prizes are awarded at the branch level. Students who play instruments other than the piano bypass the Branch Festival and advance directly to the All-Branch Regional Festivals. Winners from the Branch Festival will compete in the Regional Festival, held in May at the same location. (40 participation points)
